One of the best rock
collectors, getting 8 rocks in the district
competition and Marvin the Martian at state. It was slower than
most other rovers, but it
had excellent steering and control. It was also very
reliable. The gear blocks and twin beams that sandwiched the
gears
both contributed to the reliability. The front wheels were
different
to reduce weight and get under the 400 gram limit.
3rd place State Final, 3rd place Boise Regional, Lowell Scott
Middle School, Metallic Monkeys
The only rover I know of to
successfully grab the small gold rock in the crater.
3rd place Idaho Falls Regional, Oakwood Elementary, Galaxy
Goons
3rd place Moscow Regional, Mt. Ogden Middle School (Utah),
Alpha Rams. The chain drive is a good idea for powering the
wheels.
